Brittney West
Not many Connecticut divorce attorneys have the kind of perspective that Attorney Brittney West does – from inside the family court. Brittney spent the first decade of her career as an attorney working for the Connecticut Judicial Branch, rising all the way to Deputy Chief Clerk. In her leadership roles in Connecticut family court, Brittany bore witness to the impact divorce and family court matters have on people and their families. Though Freed Marcroft’s reputation among her colleagues inside the court preceded itself, she also experienced first-hand the work that Freed Marcroft was doing to change how we approach family law in Connecticut. She decided to go into private practice with Freed Marcroft to join them in playing all in to help clients find the happiness they deserve.
When clients of Freed Marcroft work with Brittney, they immediately notice two things – her deep understanding of the law and the court and her ability to Connecticut with them on a personal level as they navigate the complexities of divorce. While at Pace University School of Law, she was honored to be selected as Research Assistant to several professors in schools of study such as Non-Profit, Real Estate, Environmental, and Land Use Law. This extensive knowledge of many aspects of law and legal research set the stage early on for Brittney to be a formidable family attorney, but it’s her ability to engage with clients on a human level that truly sets her apart.
Brittney’s roots run deep in Connecticut, her home state where she and has lived here all her life except for her undergraduate years at the University of South Carolina. While she loved her time there and still enjoys traveling (Spain and Portugal are next on the list!), Connecticut will always be home. Brittney is an enthusiastic equestrian (her current favorite ride is a Clydesdale named Cora) and right up until college and, not surprisingly, an avid reader. She and her husband, along with their beloved 6-year-old Weimaraner, Franklin, reside in Montville, surrounded by their close-knit family and life-long friends.
