Nicholle Guerette
Nicholle Guerette may have gone into the legal field with her sights on Tax Law, but she quickly found the place she belonged was family law.
As an undergraduate at the University of Florida, Nicholle obtained her degree in English. Upon graduating, she decided to pursue her juris doctorate, with a focus on tax law and international policy, from Quinnipiac University School of Law. While working in tax law, Nicholle realized that what she enjoyed most about the field was helping families, and teaching them to be better prepared financially for their future.
Nicholle was drawn to family law for those reasons. She notes that divorce is largely financial, and that can be overwhelming for clients. She comes equipped with the skills to help divorcing couples work through the tough financial decisions and plan for their family’s future – and that’s important to her.
Nicholle also brings compassion into her work. She knows that divorce can be hard on families, but it doesn’t always have to be. If she can help, even in a small way to make things easier for them, she feels like she has succeeded. Her goal is to prevent families from letting divorce get the better of them, and get them to the other side, while feeling confident in the decisions they’ve made.
Joining Freed Marcroft was an easy choice for Nicholle. While in law school, she served as the President of the Student Bar Association, and the Women’s Law Society, one of the accomplishments of which she is most proud. Nicholle focused her efforts there on gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, and human rights issues. Freed Marcroft’s response to the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, and their subsequent pro bono work with Connecticut couples to legalize their families, resonated deeply with Nicholle’s values and beliefs, and left no doubt that she had found the right place.
Nicholle lives in Connecticut with her husband, and their chiweenie, Oatly. She and her husband love to travel, and explore new places. Both avid coffee drinkers, you can probably catch them at the local brew spot – when she isn’t home baking and binge watching The Crown.
