Liz Farinella can speak, read, and write Hungarian fluently, and is the youngest President of the oldest chapter of the Lion’s Club in Connecticut!

Liz Farinella

Liz was born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and knows more than most about hometown roots. The granddaughter of Hungarian Freedom Fighters who came to America during the second World War, she grew up in their restaurant, a neighborhood fixture that served the local community. Her grandmother made sure that no one went hungry, and no fire fighter or police man paid for a meal. Liz’s mother’s car fatefully broke down in front of the grandparent’s restaurant, where their son was an employee… and the rest was history!

As a side effect of growing up heavily involved in her community, thanks to her grandparents, Liz had a passion for helping people. She attended Housatonic Community College and Fairfield University in Connecticut and has spent over twenty years as a Registered Behavioral Technician, working with children with disabilities and their families, in the Connecticut school system and in-home care.

Liz became the youngest president of the oldest Lion’s Club chapter in Connecticut in 1999. She has not only served as the chapter President, but also as the Lion’s Club Global Kindness Ambassador. The motto of the Lion’s Club is “We Serve”, and she credits her grandparents and parents for her intention to live up to that motto every day.

Liz brings that kindness and a heart for people to her position as Intake Coordinator at Freed Marcroft. She was drawn to the firm’s values, the team environment, and their drive to not only help families, but to also put them on the path to a successful new chapter.

In her free time, Liz loves hanging out with her twin sister, traveling with her husband to their favorite spot in the Catskills, and spending time with their blended crew of three grown sons. She is also mom to three adorable fur-babies: a shepherd-lab mix named Amelia Donatella, Logan the Dutch Shepherd, and Stella, the tiny terrier with a big personality.
