Brandy Thomas
Brandy went from dreaming about being a lawyer to becoming the Managing Partner at Freed Marcroft. The Connecticut Law Tribune named her a “New Leader in the Law” in 2022, and she has been awarded the Super Lawyers’ Rising Star recognition for the last four years.
Brandy has spent over a decade focusing her law practice on divorce and family law, advocating for clients in Trial Courts throughout Connecticut, all the way up to the Appellate Court. While in law school at Western New England University School of Law, she focused on divorce, family law, and representing children. Brandy is also an accomplished and experienced divorce mediator and a member of the Hartford County Bar Association and the Connecticut State Bar Association.
Her passion for law started she worked in New York City law firms and in the United States House of Representatives as a legislative aide during her undergraduate years at Fordham University. In addition to her full-time career of helping families through divorce, she has donated countless hours to the Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut, fighting for the civil rights and liberties of those less fortunate.
Brandy finds deep meaning in guiding our clients through what is often one of the most challenging times in their lives and helping them find happiness on the other side. One of her greatest honors is empowering clients to realize that they are strong enough to handle the divorce process and that they and their children can and will thrive in the future.
Outside the office, Brandy Thomas has combined two of her loves: children and sports. She has worked with children for as long as she can remember – first as a nanny and a camp counselor and later as a coach who guided her varsity lacrosse team all the way to a championship victory. Brandy prides herself on understanding what makes kids tick, which is one of the reasons she is so effective in our family law practice.
Given Brandy Thomas’s love of sports and all that goes into them – teamwork, leadership, and bringing out the best in each other – it is no surprise that she heads Freed Marcroft’s legal team. She is always willing to go above and beyond for her clients and colleagues.
Brandy lives in Simsbury with her husband and their Chiweenie Chloe. In addition to sports, she loves to travel, spend time with friends, and catch up on her favorite Bravo shows.
