In a virtual ceremony held on May 12, 2021, Michael Marciano, Bureau Chief of the Connecticut Law Tribune, and David Gialanella, Managing Editor, ALM Regional Brands, presented the 2021 Connecticut Legal Awards Professional Excellence to 80 honorees from 50 law firms across the region.

The awards encompass various categories, including, Lifetime Achievement Awards, Attorney of the Year, New Leaders in the Law, Distinguished Leaders, Diversity Initiative – Individual and Firm, Litigation Departments of the Year, Game Changers, Giant Slayer, Best Officiator, Unsung Hero, Best Mentors, In-House Departments of the Year, and GC Impact.

Within the Innovation category, the Connecticut Law Tribune awards five individual and/or small firm winners as Solo/Small Firm Innovators, along with five law firm and/or corporate legal department winners as Law Firm/Legal Department Innovators.

“When COVID set in, Meghan’s entire team pivoted to working one-hundred percent remotely, leveraging technology, keeping mediations alive, and moving cases forward in any way possible. She has leveraged dozens of YouTube videos, Facebook Q and A’s, and her network of news broadcast media partnerships to preach the truth about family law during the pandemic,” Marciano explains. “It was an honor to present her with this well-deserved Solo/Small Firm Innovators award.”

“I’m delighted and honored to be one of five individual and small firm winners of the Solo/Small Firm Innovators Award,” Freed enthuses. “It would not have been possible without the support of our exceptional team at Freed Marcroft. They worked diligently to serve our clients and keep their cases moving forward through court shutdowns, quarantine and privacy hurdles, and countless other challenges that COVID-19 presented. We’re grateful to be recognized for pivoting quickly in March of 2020, leveraging technology to allow our staff to work remotely from home while tending to our clients’ needs.

“Our ability to adjust to unprecedented circumstances illustrates our team’s integrity and our ongoing commitment to our clients, their families, and their future. When the world shut down, we showed up. The past year’s challenges have only made us stronger and even more committed to helping our clients move forward in their lives. I’m grateful to Connecticut Law Tribune for the recognition and to the Freed Marcroft team for making this award possible.”
