Cheryl Cassella

Cheryl Cassella, as seasoned family law attorney, brings a wealth of skill and dedication to Freed Marcroft as an experienced family law attorney.  Her unique blend of mediation, litigation, and collaborative divorce proficiency, coupled with her unwaivering commitment to support clients through life’s complexities, sets her apart.  A trusted friend and colleague of Freed Marcroft’s co-founders, Cheryl’s decision to join the firm was fueled by a shared commitment to helping clients shape their future happiness.

With nearly two decades of legal experience, Cheryl has devoted her career to advocating for individuals during their most critical life stages.  She deeply understands the profound impact a knowledgeable attorney can have on families during their most vulnerable moments.  Her mission is to leverage her expertise to guide families towards stability, direction, and hope during the challenging times of divorce.  Cheryl’s unique blend of skills and empathy at the firm provides clients with the confidence and purpose they need to move forward.

A Connecticut native, Cheryl graduated summa cum laude from the University of Albany in New York, where she was an active member of athletic and academic Honor Societies.  She then pursued her law degree at the New England School of Law, graduating in the top 15% of her class and earning a place on the Dean’s List.   Cheryl’s academic and professional journey is a testamtent to her drive, determination, and “go-getter” status.

Joining Freed Marcroft was a natural next progression in Cheryl’s career.  She was inspired by the firm’s mission to reimagine family law in Connecticut and empower clients to find their own happiness and pursue the lives they deserve.  Cheryl’s work at Freed Marcroft reflects this vision, helping families transition through difficult periods with strength and hope.

Cheryl brings the same passion and dedication to her life outside the courtroom.  Cheryl, an avid field hockey enthusiast, played throughout her youth, continuing into undergrad when she played for the University of Albany.  She’s a prominent force in expanding youth field hockey in Connecticut and co-founded and co-owns the Hartford Havoc Field Hockey Team.  Off the field hockey pitch, Cheryl has run four marathons and has plans for more.  She enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, two children, and two dogs, Humphrey and Archie.
