Nicole Guertin
Paralegal
Nicole Guertin is great at puzzles.
We aren’t just talking jigsaw. In her role as a paralegal, Nicole enjoys showing up every day putting her skills to work for her clients and colleagues. No two days are the same in family law, and Nicole thrives in making sense of the unknown.
Previously a pastry chef, Nicole found the hours of bakery life incompatible with being a mom to two young daughters. When Covid-19 struck, she took the unanticipated change of pace as an opportunity to re-route her path, going back to school to earn her Paralegal certificate from Post University.
After graduating, Nicole worked at the Hartford Family Court, learning the ins and outs of family law. She met the many people who came to court, often facing the most stressful times of their lives, and sought to provide empathy, and information in their times of need. Having gone through her own divorce, Nicole could easily put herself in the shoes of the public she served every day, and found herself even further motivated to help.
Nicole now enjoys using her courthouse background to enhance her paralegal expertise at Freed Marcroft. She is able to communicate clearly with clients about what they can expect, while maintaining patience and a sense of calm that her colleagues and clients can rely on. She’s known as a good listener, understanding, and empathetic. Most importantly, Nicole genuinely loves what she does, and that’s evident in how she shows up, day after day in her professional and personal life.
Outside of work, Nicole still loves to bake. She learned as a child, baking alongside her grandmother, and now she’s teaching her own girls. Her specialties are cookies and cheesecake. Nicole has hiked Mt. Washington five times, and has a goal of hiking the tallest peaks in each state. She loves to travel and experience the food and culture around the world. She has two ferrets named (what else) Cinnamon and Cocoa, and enjoys reading.
