YES, MISTY SIMMONS IS A RECOVERING PAGEANT QUEEN.
Growing up in a single-parent home, raised by her mother and grandmother, along with her experience as a volunteer at a special education school, Misty Simmons knew personally the diversity among family dynamics and decided as a teenager that she would become a lawyer to help children and families in times of transition.
So that’s what she did.
Knowing law school was the end goal, she worked as a legal secretary and then paralegal through college and following graduation, truly excited for the opportunity to learn all that she could about the law. Misty Simmons continued working full-time as a paralegal through law school and still managed to graduate summa cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law as a member of the Law Review. Her career has focused primarily on family law before joining Freed Marcroft with 8 years of experience serving as a Guardian ad Litem in highly contested custody matters, assigned the role of representing the minor child(ren)’s best interest. Her passion for representing children and giving them a voice translates seamlessly to her divorce and custody clients because she is quick to provide valuable insight into the perspective of the children, as she has often heard first-hand from children over the years.
Misty has a love for family law even greater than she imagined as a teenager. It is with great pride that she guides clients through what is quite possibly the most difficult time in their life, doing so with compassion and transparency. It is during these challenges in life that she believes people need to be empowered to make choices that best fit their vision for the life that still lies ahead, knowing that the hard work will get them to the next chapter they’ve dreamed of.
When Misty is not working, she is enjoying the life she’s created with her ever devoted mother, middle school sweetheart turned husband and their old soul of a son, usually on some adventure, big or small, with a chance it includes their favorite island of Aruba.
