Who Can File in Norwich Family Court?

You can file divorce and family law cases in either the Connecticut family court that covers the town or city where you live, or the city or town where your spouse or partner lives.  Many Connecticut towns also have a choice of divorce court.

Residents of Bozrah, Colchester, East Lyme, Franklin, Griswold, Groton, Lebanon, Ledyard, Lisbon, Lyme, Montville, Mystic, New London, North Stonington, Norwich, Old Lyme, Preston, Salem, Sprague, Stonington, Voluntown, and Waterford can choose between filing in the Norwich Family Court or the New London Family Court.  In other words, you can choose either court if you live in New London County.

The Connecticut Court’s Family Division hears cases involving family relationships.

Divorce

Child Custody

Child Support

Post-Judgment issues such as Modification and Contempt

Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs)

Termination of Parental Rights (TPRs)
