There is a garage behind the Holiday Inn, directly across from the courthouse. It accepts credit, debit, or cash. Additionally, paid parking is also available at the Lafayette Parking Garage.
The Bridgeport Judicial District was named the Fairfield Judicial District Courthouse prior to January 1, 2024. Although the courthouse was in Bridgeport, it previously retained the name “Fairfield” from its Fairfield County roots.
Connecticut made the change to reduce confusion, given that the courthouse is located in Bridgeport. For a long time, divorce attorneys had already referred to it interchangeably as the “Bridgeport Family Court” or the “Fairfield Family Court.”
You can file divorce and family law cases in either the Connecticut family court that covers the town or city where you live, or the city or town where your spouse or partner lives. Many Connecticut towns also have a choice of divorce court.
People who live in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford, and Trumbull file in the Bridgeport Family Court.
Those in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport, and Wilton may file their divorce in either Bridgeport Family Court or the Stamford-Norwalk Family Court.
