ELISE COUSINEAU

Elise has been practicing family law for seven years, with over 12 years of experience in the field. Though her original course of study in law school focused on juvenile representation, she has learned that one of the best ways to help families is by working to create positive outcomes for her fully grown clients. Ellie thrives on finding solutions for clients going through what is likely one of the most challenging events of their lives, in the hopes that these solutions will make her client’s lives transformational.

IN ELISE COUSINEAU’S WORLD, A SUNDAY MORNING IS NOT COMPLETE UNLESS IT INCLUDES THE NEW YORK TIMES CROSSWORD AND AN ICED COFFEE – OR THREE.

Ellie graduated from the University of Vermont where she majored in English and Political Science, and gained a lifelong appreciation for cold weather. While at UVM, she worked in the theatre, and stage managed a full-scale production of Cabaret in her senior year. Ellie oversaw a company of nearly 40 people in every phase - from holding auditions, to running tech for nine performances, to striking the set after the final show. She learned the ins-and-outs of every aspect of the theatre, and brought them all together to create an incredible experience for the crew and the audience alike. Though exhausting, she looks back on this as one of the best times of her life - and if you put the soundtrack on today, she can still sing along to every word.

Upon graduating, Ellie returned to Connecticut to work for a nonprofit law firm representing children who were the subjects of juvenile court proceedings before enrolling in the University of Connecticut School of Law. While in law school, she completed an internship at the Center for Children’s Advocacy and served as an editor on the Connecticut Law Review. She graduated with her JD and began working in family law. Ellie is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, and a past board member of the Middlesex County Bar Association. Ellie’s dedication to helping her clients persevere and find clear paths forward make her a natural fit for the firm.

She lives with two adorably overweight cats named Hades and Persephone. Their home is filled with more bookshelves than it should reasonably hold and catnip-filled toys in every shape and color. Ellie is an avid knitter, which unfortunately conflicts with Persephone’s avid pursuit of chewing on yarn ends. Hades prefers to pursue patches of sunlight to nap in, which is a pastime Ellie can also get behind. Ellie’s other favorite hobbies are reading, cooking/baking, and especially reading cookbooks.
